What is the AI Accord?

The AI Accord is a social impact project and collaborative movement for those committed to responsible, ethical image-making. This initiative seeks to protect human creators and demand accountability from those creating and using image-based generative AI.

In the face of this unprecedented moment, we believe in creating a fair and transparent foundation that recognizes and rewards creative human labor while adopting these rapidly changing tools. 

We aim to tackle the particular challenges that generative AI platforms bring to our industry: massive data theft, creator compensation, consent, licensing, labelling, provenance and economic accountability.

With a code of ethics to guide us, we can ensure the future of image-making is equitable and human-centered. We invite every stakeholder, from agency to artist, to join this dialogue as we roll out the first of four phases.

What is the survey?

Inspired by the organizing power of creator organizations in the UK, we are addressing a vacuum of values-based leadership in the U.S. that prioritizes commercial artists before technology.

As part of phase one, we’ve created a questionnaire for creators on the perceptions and impacts of GenAI on image-making. This information will help guide The AI Accord principles.

We are calling commercial artists: photographers, artists reps, creative and art directors, DPs, fellow retouchers and video editors, brand-side creatives, makeup artists, stylists, and set designers.

When is the summit?

To complete our first phase, on November 12, 2026, we will gather creatives, toolmakers and brands to co-create and finalize the standards for The AI Accord. This collective toolkit will be the first of four phases that include: forming a board of creators, partnering with toolmakers to integrate provenance and transparency features, and the formation of a Creator’s Guild to facilitate political advocacy ensuring responsible, safe ethical and economically fair regulation of generative AI.
